"Blind kids cant go to outdoor camps and stuff like that."  This remark, from two 12-year-olds in 1952, started it all.  Lion Ray Hempel, from the Poy Sippi Lions, was a person who changed the world for thousands of kids.  His vision challenged the Wisconsin Lions and Lioness to change the world of children with special needs.  At the 1956 Lions State Convention in Fond du Lac, with enthusiastic support and monies raised at convention, the property in Rosholt was purchased.  (Text taken from the October 2012 WI Lion and WI Lions Centennial Magazine)

Fast forward to 2022, this FREE camping experience is available to youth with diabetes, youth & adults who are blind/visually impaired, youth & adults who are deaf/hard of hearing, youth & young adults who have intellectual disabilities or autism, and youth with epilepsy.

  For the months of December 2021 and January 2022 we donated a portion of our sales

to the United for Waukesha Community Fund.  This fund was set up to assist the victims of the Waukesha parade attack on November 21, 2021.  Our continued prayers are with the victims and their families.  Currently there is a fund for a memorial.  We have donated a portion of our sales from January and February 2023 to the parade memorial fund.  The purpose of this fund is to  "Create a memorial that thoughtfully honors the victims of the Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy, provides an opportunity for reflection, and represents healing as a community. "
